The August 2002 issue of South Carolina Shorelines highlights the renovations that are taking place at Charles Towne Landing. “Charles Towne Landing, the state’s birthplace in 1670, will soon be rejuvenated, with more of an emphasis on its status as a state and national historic treasure, as well as a new commitment to historical accuracy and education,” reports Cherie Had of South Carolina Shorelines
Some of the new changes that will be seen include: a new visitor’s center, archaeological digs, new animal habitats, new veterinary clinic and public tours of the Waring House.
Charles Town Landing will continue to stay open during the renovations. |
